First Annual Spring

Short Story Competition 

Join us as we present our First Annual Spring Short Story Competition. Will be doing a friendly competition between anyone who wants to join in. We know that Nanowrimo is still several months away so to keep you all in practice, let's pull out our pens and notepads, our computers and laptops, and have a friendly short story competition to keep in practice, of course. Guyton-Moore Strategic Services is happy to present this new competition free to anyone willing to join.





Rules for Submission

May 8th - May 21ST

If you want to join us in our friendly competition please follow the following rules.

  • All stories must be completely original and written between May 8 and May 21st.

  • Stories have to be between 6,000 and 8,000 words.

  • All pre-writing must be done before May 8.

  • You cannot start writing your first draft until May 8th.

  • You can submit as many stories as you want.

  • We accept both fiction and nonfiction

  • Submissions must be emailed to with "Spring Short Story" in the subject line. The email must include your real name (first/last) and your pen name (if you have one). 

  • Documents sent to us must be compatible with Microsoft Word or be in the PDF format.


We will not accept the following

  • Erotic fiction of any kind

  • Any story containing racial slurs

  • Stories that are overly provocative

  • Stories that contain excessive profanity

  • Stories in the public domain.

Prize For Winning

Other than bragging rights until our next year's Spring Annual Event, winners will have their story featured on our website for all to download and read. You may also win a chance to be published! Authors will even be featured on our new page of contest winners for 2016. We will be selecting a winner from each genre that enters.
